Spanish Linguist w/GIS experience

ALC is currently seeking Spanish Linguists with GIS experience for a stateside opportunity. This position entails translation of technical and scientific material from one or more languages into correct, idiomatic English using a computer word processing program. On occasions, the linguist will translate words, phases, and documents into the target language. This contract will assist the production offices in meeting the requirements for the collection, analysis, evaluation of geographic names and boundary intelligence found principally in foreign language sources. This contract will also assist in the population of the Geographic Names Data Base (GNDB).

All candidates must possess the following criteria:
-DLPT or ALTA language test score level 2 in reading (Testing can be provided)
-Ability to summarize time sensitive items
-TS/SCI clearance
-Translation of written, audio and multi-media formats from English into the target language
-Basic knowledge of Geography, Cartography, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
-Basic map reading skills
-Skills, knowledge and understanding of GIS applications (i.e. ArcGIS or GeoMedia Pro)
-The candidate’s spouse, siblings, parents, and children all MUST BE US CITIZENS
